In the north, bordered by China to the west — with Laos and Cambodia, to the east and south bordering the South China Sea. In addition to the mainland, the islands belong to Vietnam Con Dao, Fukok and others. The area — 332 sq. M. km. Population — 70.9 million. People. Capital — Hanoi. On the territory of Vietnam is home to about 60 ethnic groups. Most of the population (84%) refers to the small South Mongoloid race. The main religion — Buddhism.
The country of mountains and plateaus stretching more than 1750 km from north to south along the coast of the South China Sea. The configuration of the territory is very peculiar — it looks like a giant letter S. Most of the Vietnamese territory is occupied by mountains and only a quarter of it is occupied by plains.
